BACKGROUND Launched in 2021 by lightweighting specialists as pro engineering ltd., Project ATOMS is an ongoing, government-funded research programme, dedicated to pushing the boundaries of lightweight engineering.
In close collaboration with our technical and academic partners - nTop, CA Models, the University of Strathclyde's Lightweight Manufacturing Centre and the National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland - Project ATOMS seeks to explore, develop and refine innovative and previously undiscovered lightweighting opportunities.
ATOMS - I By pushing the limits of lightweighting design tools & additive manufacturing technology, Project ATOMS - Part I has already explored novel, lightweight structural concepts that deliver extreme weight saving results - in some instances slashing part weight by up to 86% & increasing specific stiffness by 266%.
